Topping the local rock charts and quickly climbing national charts, The Violet Hour, a Fort Smith based female-fronted band is revving up for the release of their sophomore album, "Instigator." The new album is a far cry from The Violet Hour's early indie/pop days. Front lady, Alli, says "We are a rock band at heart. This album shows our true spirit.” “Instigator” is flavored with strong influences of metal and blues.
The Violet Hour has developed a strong presence in Arkansas and surrounding states in the past two years. Alli recently received the 2012 Screamie Award for Arkansas Female Rock Vocalist of the Year. Screamin' Toe Productions, based in Little Rock, AR, presents these awards to noteworthy independent artists in the State. Alli said, "So many great vocalists were nominated. I was honored just to be in the category with them!" All four members of The Violet Hour were nominated for Screamie Awards, and their 2012 single "Dead Weight" was nominated for song of the year.
The band will be celebrating the weekend of their album release, May 10th & 11th at Shooter's Bar & Grill in Fort Smith, AR. Live music will begin at 9 p.m. each night. Performing alongside The Violet Hour will be their good friends Jacob Cotner, Jason Amerson, and The Final Piece. Admission will be free, and hard copies of the "Instigator" album will be available at a special one-time introductory price of only $8.00. The public (age 21+) is invited to attend either or both nights! Alli explains, "For our friends, family members, and fans under age 21, we will be playing lots of family friendly festivals and events in the months to come! We haven't forgotten about you!" In 2013, The Violet Hour is set to appear at Rockin' 4 Alex, Green Country Ruckus Music & Arts Festival, Poteau Music Festival, The Freak Arts Expo, and many more! The band will be returning to venues in OK, AR, TX, & MO this year as well as adding MS, IL, AL, & LA to the roster. Lead guitarist, Jon, said “We are revved and ready to hit the road!”
