Biography

Lawton is an A-typical rock band featuring four seasoned musicians who write songs that mean something to them, and will hopefully touch a part of your soul as well. Lawton's sound has been developed and refined for over the past two years and has been compared to Godsmack, Staind, Creed, and Shinedown and continues to evolve. Individually the members of Lawton have created their own styles that when combined delivers a unique but commercial product.
Lawton's mission is to make every person who comes to a show feel as though they are a part of the band. If you’ve seen Lawton perform you know what they are all about. If you haven't, seeing is believing. Lawton was recently selected to perform at The Carnival of madness on the Waterfront tour stop in Bangor, Maine.

Lawton is from central Maine and has fully equipped, trained and dedicated sound and lighting techs. The bands sound is comparable with Staind, Godsmack and Shinedown. The writing style is lyrically intelligent with a musical flair for the “hook” of the song. Lawtons goal is to eventually record and tour in support of a national / global CD release.

Original music
On 4/16/2011 Lawton released their debut CD "Child". The CD is now available at CDBaby.com, itunes, Rhapsody, Emusic, Napster, Tradebit, Greatindiemusic, Amazonmp3, Zune, Last.fm, myspace music and nokia download sites with more being added everyday. Lawton has 20 original songs in various stages of development with many ready for performance.

Cover songs
Lawton has a 40 song (and growing) repertoire including selections from the 90’s to recent releases by national bands like: Godsmack, Shinedown, Tantric, 3 doors down, 3 days grace, Tool, Korn, Alice In Chains, STP and more as well as Lawton's original music. Lawton is available for open mic nights as auditions. A full song list is available upon request. Lawtons long term goal is to perform all original material.

Equipment list
Lawton has PA systems starting at 600 watts for smaller clubs and up to 24,000 watts of sound reinforcement for larger venues including Peavey ps2 / ps15 monitors - Sennheiser - Harbinger 3 way mains - Peavey 24 channel mixing board with dynamic feedback defeater and onboard programmable FX technology - with Peavey and B52 subs, along with full instrumentation and stage lighting. A full equipment list is available upon request. Our sound crew has a combined 15 years behind the board and the lighting engineer has over 10 years experience.

The bands namesake and original bass player Van Lawton passed away unexpectedly 10/14/09, prompting the guys to rename the band (then dubbed Deviation) in his honor. Refusing to give up, the surviving members continue to create and play the music Van loved so much.

Recorded music aside, the live show is where it’s at with Lawton. Getting out there to share their music and energy with fans is the main reason for Lawton’s existence. Playing a good mix of covers when necessary and originals the band loves rockin’ it out with other groups from the area to give fans a full night of live music much like going to an arena.
